In 1950 Mikhael KARAM and his wife Asma started their apple orchard in Mazraat El Siyad location near Kartaba with traditional varieties known as Starken and Golden.

 

Later on when Mikhael Hala* dig out a water spring up on the hills nearby his Orchard, the plants behavior was enhanced in growth and quality.

Over the years Mikhael Hala* Orchard was known as one of the best in the region including a wide range of fruit trees.

 

 

When he passed away in 1992 the Orchard was neglected and most of the trees were lost.

 


In 2003 his grandson Michel and  Fadia his wife gathered the property and started to expand.


In July 2005-2006 the renovation of the terraces’ started and new apples trees were planted.

 

In 2009 first crop samples were tasted and valued in shape flavor and quality.

 

 

In 2010 first crop commercial quantities picked for Irchad program,

 

 

 

* Hala is a nick name for the Mikhael  KARAM family in reference to his mother who traveled during the Ottoman period to Istanbul met the Sultan and got back with a title.
