Scarlett Spur

History :

 

Scarlet spur was discovered by Van Well Nursery in the Washington State at the end of the 19th century. Scarlet spur is "sport" of the original Red Delicious apple, the bright red color making it more commercially successful, and it has become one  of the most famous American apple varieties, and one of the most widely grown apple varieties . Scarlet spur is the most efficient spur on the market of Delicious red.

 

Appearance and flavor:

Moreover, it's a very beautiful Red Delicious which colours very well even in unfavourable conditions. The Scarlett spur applet is truncated conic, very regular and ribbed. It is washed deep red on a green background. The flesh is white, firm , juicy and has a light crispness,  The eating quality is very good, with a soft flavour  It is basically a sweet apple and a refreshing apple to eat .
