Bing Cherry

The Bing is a cultivar first produced in the pacific northwest in Milwaukie Oregon by a horticulturalist named Seth Lewelling who named the cultivar for his farming foreman, a Chinese man named Ah Bing.

The Bing Cherry, Prunus avium 'Bing' is the best of the sweet cherries and it is by far the most widely produced commercial variety.

The Bing cherry is large and has a strong distinctive flavor. The deep garnet to almost black color makes the Bing cherry easily the most recognizable of all cherry varieties.

The fruit texture is firm and sweet. When most people think Cherry they are thinking "Bing Cherry". The Bing Cherry is a good eating fruit and is desirable for cooking as well.
